Why Sail Pensacola?
If you are looking for sailing venue that is stunningly undiscovered yet peppered with top-notch dining, dancing, sporting venues, and entertainment, Pensacola Bay is the place!
The Bay is connected to the Gulf coast Intercoastal giving you easy access with the best in coastal recreating from Biloxi, Mississipi to Panama City, Florida. Your cruising base? Pensacola without a doubt!
Beyond recreational sailing, Pensacola Bay is a world-recognized venue for high-performance sailing and is the winter training home of Team American Magic, the U.S. Challenger to reclaim the America’s Cup in 2024! This means you’ll see Patriot (75 feet of foiling rocket-on-water), and the AC40’s “America” and “Magic” screaming around the Bay. Off the beach at Pensacola Yacht Club, and further out near Range point and Portofino Island Resort, you’ll see Moth-class and WASZP foiling sailboats and wing foiling board sailors skimming across the chop in the ever-steady Pensacola breeze.
If you get the sense that performance sailing is a thick-layer here, you’d be right! Pensacola and Sail Pensacola Inc, a non-profit based in Pensacola, are charging into the future to build Pensacola into the high-performance sailing hub of the U.S. That means start-up incentives and entrepreneurial support for sail and hull designers, engineers, riggers, and boat builders, all immersed in the wickedly windy “tunnel” of Pensacola Bay while enjoying a community of military and contracted designers and engineers already in-place on the Florida coast.
The whole sailing ecosystem in Pensacola is getting pumped up, from recreational sailing, to open- and one-design class racing, to big-boat cruising, all the way up to the technology-pushing beasts of the AC75.
If you are in the business of sailing, we want you in Pensacola! If you are in the business of having fun sailing, you definitely belong here because #SailingIsOurBusiness!
