2024 NYYC Resolute Cup

Pensacola Yacht Club is making the big push to deliver their team to Newport, R.I., September 9-14 for the New York Yacht Club’s Resolute Cup.  This Corinthian championship of the U.S. and is by invitation only and this year is only the second time PYC has been invited!  The racing platform will be the Sonar, a three-or-four person boat with an symmetrical spinnaker, used throughout New England and once a very popular one design racing platform at New York Yacht Club.  The rules of the event state that each team must have at least one male and one female and there cannot be any professionals based on World sailing definitions. The PYC team this year will be: Mike Madigan (Skipper), Nikki Ferry, and Derek Riddle.  Mike is a San Diego High school sailing phenomenon, a U.S. Naval Academy racer, and current flight instructor at NASP.  Nikki is the past Commodore of Pensacola Yacht Club and this will be her second resolute cup for PYC.  Derek is a life-long racing sailor and regular on the local circuit.  Team Captain Tom Pace is closing the loops to get them positioned to win!
